One fine summer evening in 1928, Doctor Elbert Harrison answers the door to a lady saying she’s from the Sasquatch chamber of commerce, a whimsical ploy to soften the news that the spacefaring Anye race has been doing business on Earth for 25,000 years.
A cure for aging is offered in exchange for recording a birth certificate in the county — an easy favor, a small price to pay for a new life.
But the Great Depression, looming on the horizon, threatens to provoke a flood of refugees from Jivada, an Anye colony world long dependent on Earth for its food supply.
